Project Overview:

The SOLUNA project, undertaken for Al Futtaim, aimed to create an unprecedented landmark and iconic experience in Dubai. This experience would captivate visitors throughout the day and night around the Festival City and its marina. The objective was to establish a compelling attraction that could rival Dubai’s renowned landmarks like the Dubai Mall fountain and Burj Khalifa.

Inspired by Islamic culture, mythology, and the symbolic relationship between the sun and moon, Lukas and his team embarked on the task. They developed four distinct and innovative concepts, with one of the standout ideas being SOLUNA. This particular concept offers a dual experience: a captivating art installation surrounded by cafes and restaurants during the day, and a revolutionary Dubai Water Park™ concept during the night. The art installation is positioned on the water and is linked by walkways, symbolizing the interplay between the sun and moon.

As daylight graces the landscape, SOLUNA’s art installation provides an awe-inspiring spectacle. The surrounding area features cafes and restaurants, offering visitors an inviting space to appreciate the artwork. As the sun sets and night takes over, the art installation transforms into the centerpiece of a multidisciplinary spectacle. This transformation incorporates elements of panoramic views, verticality, water fountains, projections, and a range of other theatrical effects. The symbiotic dance of the sun and moon takes center stage in this nighttime extravaganza.
